New Products this month #5

From McFarlane Toys(the company that bring us the Spawn toys and collectibles)proudly presents Alien vs Predator:Birth of the Hybrid DELUXE BOXED SET and the first wave of the Warriors of the Zodiac series.



First off is the AVP:Birth of the Hybrid Deluxe Boxed Set.This set comes with 2 Predators(I apologizes for my lack of knowledge about characters in the AVP universe so to me all the Predators look the same :P)1 is lying down(which Im assuming is dying or already dead)with the Hybrid alien or xenomorph bursting out of his chest and 1 is the normal cool looking predator(yes I've said it...they all look the same to me)thats carrying a spear.








Well if you ask me about what to expect from this boxed set.I can only say this,its the typical McFarlane Toys quality.They really pay attention to detail but not articulation.But this is not a problem for collectors that actually dont play with their toys.C'mon,if you just gonna keep them in the cabinet doing ONE POSE FOR A VERY LONG TIME who actually cares about articulation right? ;)


Next we have the Warriors of the Zodiac series.What is it actually you ask?Well think of this,theres 12 Zodiac signs right?With 12 different animals as the signs.Well somebody in McFarlane Toys decide to make a character(more to monsters if you ask me) out of each Zodiac signs/animals.And I admit they make quite a good work out of it.And some of it I admit is quite creepy and scary(my personal favorite Gemini)and some are plain cool.As this is the first wave of this series,they only produced 4 Warriors of the Zodiacs.(4 Zodiacs each wave so collect them all :D).This month Hayasa Hobby Shop proudly presents the first wave of this series which includes these 4 Zodiac warriors:

Takara Tomy's Disney Label Transformers Donald Duck,Takara Tomy's MASTERPIECE MP-1B Convoy black ver(Nemesis Prime)and Takara Tomy's MASTERPIECE MP-2 Ultra Magnus


First off is the long awaited Donald Duck transformable toy from Takara Tomy Disney Label.This toy actually produces a transformable VW bug that can transform into Donald Duck(yes the grumpy duck)Its a nice collection to any transformer collectors or someone that just wanna buy something unique.I mean come one...things like this only come once a while ;)






Next is the 2 iconic character in the Transformers universe.Nemesis Prime and Ultra Magnus.As you can see this 2 products are from Takara Tomy MASTERPIECE series.Which means the toys are ALMOST perfect in every way imaginable.From its likeness to its original character in the cartoon/anime,articulation,details and even LED lights.I will make a short review of this product in the near future as in now I just post the picture of the product boxes ;)

BANDAI DX Chogokin GE-48 "S.M.S Transformable Space Attack Carrier Macross Quarter from the Macross Frontier series.




Well,to start of,I'm not too familiar with the chogokin(I'm not an expert in this but what my friend tell me "chogokin" means the product have metal joints or metal composite parts)series.In fact this is my first time reviewing one.So I will make the review as I see fit.

Well first off,when I get the quarter,I noticed that the box is quit big.Well not as big as some of the other Gundams I have but its quit noticeable.When unboxing,the Quarter comes in 2 clear plasctic trays and 1 styrofoam box.The Quarter display stand comes in 1 tray,and the Quarter left and right hand weapons are on another tray.Quarter also comes with the skull squadron fighters and off course a Vajra.



Quarter's right hand weapon like you can see from the picture below is actually a nuclear submersible carrier/missile carrier:



Quarter's left hand weapon(actually more of a big a** sword and/or shield if you watched the anime)is actually an aircraft carrier like you see in the picture below:




Okay,now to review about the Quarter itself.After a bit of assembly,the Macross Quarter is ready for display or play(I myself will play with all my toys before i actually display them :D).Quarter is quite heavy because of all the metal parts.Quarter can transform from Space Cruiser mode and/or robot mode.Quarter can stand on its own without the help of the stand in robot mode but not in cruiser mode.You need the stand in order to display quarter in Cruiser mode.And thats why Bandai include the stand in the package :)


Picture time.First off,Quarter in cruiser mode.In cruiser mode,Quarter is at least 50 cm long(Yes quite long,you need a large display cabinet or space for this baby)









Quarter in robot mode.In this mode,the right hand weapon(the nuclear submarine)is a big a** particle cannon and the left hand weapon(the aircraft carrier)is a big shield and/or a big sword.In order to fire its main cannon properly Quarter will put the shield on its back.











The cigarette box is put there so that you can see how big this thing actually is :)






To sum everything up,this is a must get for any hardcore Macross Frontier fan.The price is kinda high for a toy but the amount of detail and quality they put into this piece of art is magnificent.Its highly detailed,lots of metal parts and solidly built.
